🪜 Ladder Safety: A Step We Can’t Afford to Miss

Falls from ladders remain one of the leading causes of workplace injuries and fatalities—especially in construction, warehousing, and maintenance. According to OSHA and the CDC:

🔹 More than 100 workers die each year from ladder-related falls
🔹 Over 20,000 injuries are reported annually
🔹 Many of these are preventable with basic safety measures

Recently, I had the opportunity to provide onsite ladder safety training for a client with heavy reliance on both fixed ladders and rolling staircases. What we found was eye-opening:

📍 Missing inspections on ladders and mobile units
📍 Damaged handrails and worn treads on rolling staircases
📍 Lack of awareness around proper ladder setup and usage

As part of our training, we didn’t just lecture—we built a hands-on ladder inspection exercise into the course. Employees learned to spot issues before they become hazards. We also covered:

✅ Choosing the right ladder for the task (height, weight rating, material)
✅ Performing pre-use inspections to catch defects early
✅ Maintaining 3 points of contact at all times while climbing
✅ Proper storage and maintenance to extend ladder life and reduce risk

The result? A more confident team, a safer workplace, and real momentum toward a stronger safety culture.

If your team uses ladders, even just occasionally, now’s the time to act.

Ladder Safety isn’t optional. It’s essential. 🧰🦺
